First organised in 2016, Addictive TV’s Graham Daniels and producer/manager Francoise Lamy joined forces with a group of like-minded fellow artists including Elasticeye and The Light Surgeons to create Splice – a three year festival focusing on live audiovisual performing arts. The events were also the UK partner to AV Node – a network of similar European festivals funded by the EU’s Creative Europe programme.
Splice was designed to encourage the open exchange of ideas and information whilst producing and showcasing performances from both emerging and established artists. At its core the festival explored the field of audiovisual art and culture through a collection of live performances and projects including live cinema, AV remixing and VJing alongside other performative work that included digital theatre, projection mapping, visual music, generative software, creative coding, experimental music and work that used both old and new technology in engaging ways. The festivals also included a range of workshops, talks, panel discussions, networking events, and kids & family section.
